IBM and MIT Expand Research Collaboration to Include AI and Quantum Computing

IBM and MIT launched the MIT-IBM Computing Research Lab. The facility expands the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab established in 2017. The new lab adds quantum computing to foundational artificial intelligence research.

The initiative accelerates computational approaches combining AI and quantum computing. Researchers will study quantum-centric supercomputing and novel AI architectures.

The project supports IBM's roadmap to deliver a fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029.
