IBM completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories from former owners Boeing and General Motors. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The move integrates HRL’s silicon-spin qubit expertise to complement IBM’s existing superconducting qubit leadership. The acquisition adds specialized capabilities in quantum sensing, materials science, and advanced electronics to IBM’s portfolio.
IBM expects the deal to strengthen its quantum hardware roadmap and support full-stack technology innovations. Boeing and General Motors will maintain partnerships with IBM and HRL to develop future quantum applications.
