Northland Power and partner ORLEN achieved first power at the 1.1-gigawatt Baltic Power project. This marks the first-ever delivery of offshore wind electricity to Poland's national grid. Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources attended the event to mark the milestone.
The project doubles Northland Power’s gross installed offshore wind capacity to 2.3 GW. Crews have already installed 54 of the 76 total turbines. Full commercial operations are scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Once operational, Baltic Power will generate clean energy for over 1.5 million Polish households annually. The project supports Poland's national target of 18 GW of offshore wind capacity. Poland aims to reach this capacity goal by 2040. This infrastructure expansion serves as a long-term driver for the utilities sector and investors in ETFs like IFRA and XLU.
