IMAX Corporation reported a $47 million global box office weekend. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey drove the performance with a record-breaking opening in China.

The film grossed $19.3 million in its IMAX China debut, including previews. IMAX screens accounted for 53% of the film's total gross in the country. This market share was achieved using only 1% of China's total screens.

The performance represents the largest IMAX debut and market share for any Christopher Nolan film in China. CEO Rich Gelfond described the results as an unprecedented box office phenomenon.

IMAX nearly achieved its fifth consecutive global weekend exceeding $50 million, a streak never seen before 2026. The debut secured the highest-grossing August in history for IMAX in China.
