Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey opened in mainland China on August 14. The film debuted on over 20,000 screens, including the vast majority of the nation’s IMAX locations.
The production is already the highest-grossing IMAX release of all time. Shooting entirely with IMAX cameras helped drive the company to its highest-grossing month in history during July.
IMAX currently holds a disproportionately high share of the film's global box office total. The expansion into the Chinese market is expected to further bolster these record returns.
