Intel, AMD, Microsoft, OPAQUE, and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) launched TRACE, an open standard for AI governance. The Linux Foundation will manage the initiative to create verifiable records for AI agents and confidential workloads.

The TRACE standard—Trust, Runtime Attestation, and Compliance Evidence—uses hardware-backed cryptography to log software operations and data access. This system provides a tamper-evident audit trail for autonomous systems handling sensitive information.

The standard ensures portability across different cloud providers and hardware platforms. This framework aims to unify AI compliance and security protocols across the technology industry.
