Hongkong Land Holdings is in discussions to enter Japan’s real estate market with deals exceeding $1 billion. The Jardine Matheson subsidiary is targeting prime mixed-use complexes in Tokyo. These assets include high-end office, retail, and hospitality spaces.

The expansion aligns with Jardine Matheson’s strategic shift to become a returns-focused investment group. Hongkong Land has reportedly approached major property owners including Blackstone and Hulic.

Discussions remain in preliminary stages. There is no certainty that any transactions will be finalized.
