JD.com broke ground on its first RoboBase facility in Guangzhou to signal a strategic pivot into embodied AI. This project marks the start of a nationwide network featuring over 80 bases. The company committed approximately $1.4 billion in total investment for the expansion.
The Guangzhou facility requires a 1 billion RMB investment. Construction is expected to conclude by 2028. JD.com forecasts this site will generate 1.75 billion RMB in annual output by 2030.
The initiative transforms JD.com from a logistics leader into a comprehensive AI robotics ecosystem platform.
