Johnson & Johnson published primary results from the MEMBRANE randomized controlled trial in JAMA Neurology on June 19, 2026.
The study evaluated middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAe) using the TRUFILL n-BCA system for chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH). Adding this procedure to standard care reduced the odds of cSDH recurrence or surgical re-intervention by 47% over six months.
The trial enrolled 376 patients across 30 different sites. These findings provide randomized evidence supporting this treatment strategy for elderly and complex patient populations.
