KKR & Co. joined a consortium bidding A$7.7 billion (US$5.4 billion) for Australian insurance broker Steadfast Group. Amwins Group and Dragoneer Investment Group lead the bidding group. The consortium first proposed the acquisition in June 2026.
The offer of A$6.00 per share represents a 52% premium over the previous closing price. The bidding group recently reconfirmed this offer. Steadfast extended the exclusivity period by four weeks to facilitate continued due diligence.
Dragoneer expects to acquire the retail brokerage business if the transaction proceeds. Amwins would take over the underwriting agency operations.
