Kinder Morgan has placed its Gulf Coast Express (GCX) pipeline expansion into service. The project adds approximately 570 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of natural gas transportation capacity. This expansion increases the pipeline's total capacity to roughly 2.55 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d).
The fully-contracted project involved adding compression facilities to the existing route from the Permian Basin to South Texas. Construction was completed on schedule in mid-2026.
The expansion provides critical egress for surging Permian Basin natural gas production. This additional capacity aims to stabilize regional prices and resolve persistent transportation bottlenecks. The supply will serve high-demand markets, including Gulf Coast liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities.
