Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is dedicating expanded production capacity to its TDI-J85 engines. These engines power Boeing’s Joint Direct Attack Munition Long Range (JDAM LR) program.

The expansion follows a $75 million U.S. Air Force contract awarded to Boeing for the precision-guided weapon. The Kratos engine allows the 500-pound munition to travel over 300 nautical miles.

Production occurs at the Kratos facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The company has begun ordering long-lead components to support a large-scale production run scheduled for 2027.
