Prince Alwaleed bin Talal acquired a 5% stake in electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors. A July 28, 2026, SEC filing disclosed the purchase of approximately 19.5 million shares. The holding is valued at roughly $126 million based on the July 23 closing price.
This personal investment is separate from the majority stake held by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The PIF has invested approximately $9.5 billion in Lucid since 2018.
Lucid shares rose following the disclosure of the prince's investment. The move solidifies Saudi support as the automaker navigates high cash burn and production scaling challenges.
