Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) was removed from the Russell 3000 and small-cap Russell 2000 indexes during the annual reconstitution effective late June 2026. The exclusion also applies to the Russell 2500 and Russell Small Cap Comp benchmarks.
FTSE Russell implemented the changes as part of its systematic recalibration of U.S. equity markets.
The removal forces passive investment funds and ETFs tracking these indexes to sell their holdings. This mandatory divestment is expected to increase selling pressure and may impact the stock's trading volume and liquidity.
