Mastercard is exploring the sale of a 51% stake in its UK subsidiary, Vocalink. The company is in early-stage talks with DeliveryCo, a consortium backed by major British banks.
UK policymakers have raised concerns regarding foreign ownership of this critical national infrastructure. Vocalink currently processes the majority of UK salaries, household bills, and government benefits.
The potential deal carries an estimated valuation of £400 million. This move coincides with Vocalink’s bid to develop the next-generation payments platform for the UK.
