LVMH-Owned Tannery Accused by NGO of Lobbying to Weaken EU Deforestation Law and Sourcing from At-Risk Areas

Global Witness accuses LVMH-owned Nuti Ivo of lobbying to weaken EU anti-deforestation regulations. The report alleges the Italian tannery purchased skins from Paraguayan companies linked to deforested land. These areas include land claimed by Indigenous communities.

LVMH denies lobbying EU institutions to reduce the scope of the EU Deforestation Regulation. The company maintains its commitment to fighting deforestation.

LVMH initially stated its subsidiary banned South American leather. The company later clarified that Nuti Ivo sourced "very small quantities" from the region before its acquisition.
