Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is investing $35 million to launch the Horowitz Andreessen Academy, an independent, unaccredited two-year program positioned as an alternative to traditional college. The San Francisco-based school will be tuition-free and aims to train students aged 16 to 22 in engineering and other technology-focused skills.
The academy, while bearing the names of the firm's founders, will operate as an independent business. It has secured partnerships with several major technology companies, including Meta, Google, Nvidia, and OpenAI, which will provide access to software and computing resources. The initiative is designed to create a new talent pipeline directly into the tech industry.
