Meta Platforms (META) acquired Assured Robot Intelligence on Friday. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The startup specializes in AI models that enable robots to adapt to human behaviors in complex environments.
Co-founders Lerrel Pinto and Xiaolong Wang will join Meta’s Superintelligence Labs research division. The team will collaborate with the Meta Robotics Studio, which was established in 2025 to develop humanoid technology.
This acquisition signals Meta’s intent to build the underlying software for humanoid robots. The company aims to create a foundational industry platform similar to the Android operating system for smartphones.
