The Thailand Consumers Council will file a civil lawsuit against Meta Platforms on June 8. The watchdog alleges the company failed to screen fraudulent advertisements and fake investment schemes on Facebook.
Council officials claim Meta provided unsatisfactory responses during a year of attempted negotiations. The watchdog recorded nearly 3,800 consumer complaints linked to the platform. These complaints were documented between 2024 and 2026.
Thailand currently has approximately 51 million Facebook users. This legal action aims to enforce stricter consumer protection standards and hold Meta accountable for widespread financial losses.
