Meta Platforms is recruiting top AI talent from Thinking Machines Lab. The company hired at least seven founding members from the startup. Thinking Machines is currently valued at $12 billion. Former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati founded the firm.
This recruitment drive follows Murati’s rejection of a $1 billion acquisition offer from Meta. Meta is conducting a full-scale raid on the startup’s personnel.
New hires include Joshua Gross, developer of the startup's flagship product. Co-founder Andrew Tulloch also joined Meta. Tulloch reportedly received a compensation package worth up to $1.5 billion.
Thinking Machines recently raised $2 billion in funding. The startup has quadrupled its total staff count. Previously, Thinking Machines hired the creator of the PyTorch AI framework from Meta to serve as its CTO.
