Meta Platforms settled a landmark lawsuit with Kentucky’s Breathitt County School District. The company is the final major tech firm to resolve the case. This agreement cancels a federal jury trial scheduled for June.

The lawsuit alleged that Meta intentionally designed platforms to addict young users. The school district sought over $60 million to fund student mental health programs.

Co-defendants Alphabet's YouTube, Snap, and TikTok previously reached separate, undisclosed settlements. The case serves as a bellwether for more than 1,200 similar lawsuits filed by U.S. school districts.
