Meta Platforms is negotiating a contract worth approximately $6.5 billion with Samsung Foundry. According to South Korea’s Sedaily, the deal involves producing next-generation Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) AI chips.
Samsung will utilize its advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process for the project. This move marks a strategic shift for Meta, which relied on TSMC to manufacture its first two generations of in-house AI hardware.
Securing Meta as a high-profile customer for the 2nm node provides Samsung a significant victory against TSMC. The agreement strengthens Samsung’s competitive position in the expanding market for custom AI silicon.
