Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in an internal meeting that AI agent development has not progressed as quickly as anticipated. This covers the last four months. The company underwent a significant corporate restructuring in May. That restructuring involved laying off 10% of the workforce. Thousands of employees were also reassigned to accelerate AI initiatives.
Despite slower-than-expected progress, Zuckerberg remains optimistic. He noted concerns that the company's bets on its new structure "haven't come to fruition yet." He told employees he still anticipates seeing more significant returns from AI investments. This is expected within the next three to six months. Meta is projected to spend up to $145 billion on AI infrastructure this year.
