MiniMed has commenced commercial shipping of its MiniMed Flex™ system across the United States. This app-controlled insulin pump represents the company's smallest model to date.
The device is approved for individuals with type 1 diabetes aged 7 and older. It is also available for adults with insulin-requiring type 2 diabetes.
The system integrates Abbott’s Instinct sensor, which features a 15-day wear duration. This sensor is currently the smallest in the world.
The commercial launch follows the recent expansion of coverage to Medicare and Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.
