MP Materials Corp. started commercial deliveries of rare earth permanent magnets to General Motors from its Fort Worth, Texas, facility. These initial shipments provide finished magnets for electric motors in GM’s North American electric vehicle lineup.
The delivery fulfills a key milestone in a long-term supply agreement to establish a fully integrated U.S. magnet supply chain. The Texas plant sources raw materials from the company’s Mountain Pass mine in California to create an end-to-end domestic loop.
Production will scale to 1,000 metric tons of neodymium-iron-boron magnets annually. This output provides enough capacity to power approximately 500,000 EV motors every year.
