Italy’s antitrust authority opened an investigation into Microsoft’s pricing and bundling of artificial intelligence tools within Microsoft 365. The probe focuses on allegations that Microsoft failed to inform consumers about the integration of Copilot and Designer tools.

Regulators claim these integrations led to unannounced price increases for subscribers. The authority is also investigating whether Microsoft intentionally made it difficult for users to opt out of the more expensive plans.

This action follows a similar lawsuit filed in Australia last year regarding Copilot subscription transparency. Microsoft has not yet commented on the Italian investigation.
