Microsoft, Google, and Elon Musk’s xAI will provide the U.S. government with early access to new artificial intelligence models before public release. This agreement with the Commerce Department’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) enables pre-deployment evaluations of national security risks.
The collaboration expands existing partnerships to advance AI security and clarify frontier AI capabilities for federal officials. Developers will provide CAISI with models featuring reduced or removed safeguards to facilitate thorough testing.
These evaluations will focus on potential national security threats, specifically targeting cybersecurity and biosecurity vulnerabilities.
