Microsoft launched its first voluntary retirement program in its 51-year history. The offer targets more than 8,500 long-serving U.S. employees.

The company aims to reduce headcount and manage rising AI infrastructure costs. This initiative will trigger a one-time charge of approximately $900 million.

Eligible staff receive cash severance, healthcare benefits, and accelerated stock vesting. Employees have 30 days to decide whether to accept the offer.
