Asha Sharma became CEO of Microsoft’s gaming division in February 2026. She is currently restructuring the unit’s leadership to align with a new strategic direction.

Sharma previously served as president of Microsoft’s CoreAI product. She is appointing new executives to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into the Xbox platform.

The restructuring aims to return the gaming division to growth following a decline in hardware revenue. Sharma is also re-evaluating core strategies regarding game exclusivity and Game Pass subscription pricing.
