Microsoft is sourcing additional computing capacity from Amazon Web Services to support its GitHub platform.
This move addresses recent reliability issues and outages caused by a surge in AI-driven developer activity. Microsoft described the shift as a multi-cloud strategy while it works to migrate GitHub fully to its Azure cloud.
The platform expects annual code commits to reach 1 billion in 2025. GitHub projects this volume will surge to 14 billion commits by 2026.
