Following its recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft has clarified its evolving strategy on game exclusivity. Matt Booty, the company's chief content officer, stated that future decisions on whether to release games on rival consoles will be made on a "case-by-case" basis. The goal is to provide a reason for customers to buy an Xbox, with titles like 'Gears of War: E-Day' and 'Clockwork Revolution' now confirmed as console exclusives.
Booty also confirmed that all major multiplayer and live-service games will continue to be multiplatform to support their communities. This hybrid approach follows the recent release of several Xbox titles on competing platforms. Microsoft affirmed that any games already promised as multiplatform will honor that commitment, and that platforms for new games will be specified when a release date is announced.
