OpenAI and Oracle officially broke ground on the Stargate supercomputer data center in Saline, Michigan.

The 1-gigawatt facility requires an initial $16 billion investment for infrastructure. Total potential investment for the project exceeds $45 billion.

CEO Sam Altman told CNBC the project is critical to meet surging demand for advanced AI. Altman stated that companies aggressively adopting AI are currently hiring the most employees. He cited coding assistance applications as a primary driver for workforce growth to challenge narratives regarding AI job cuts.
