OpenAI will terminate AI model access for the coding-assistant platform Cursor on November 12, 2026. The company stated it lacks confidence that SpaceX will adhere to its terms of service.
OpenAI cited previous contract violations by Elon Musk’s other ventures, including an under-oath admission regarding xAI. SpaceX finalized its acquisition of Cursor in August 2026. The deal was valued at $60 billion.
The purchase supports Musk’s strategy to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in AI-assisted software development. OpenAI is providing the maximum contractual notice to minimize disruption for active developers.
