The feature enables users to monitor long-running tasks, review progress, and approve actions while away from a desktop environment. The mobile app acts as a remote control, streaming terminal activity and code changes in real-time through a secure relay system.
This architecture ensures that sensitive files and credentials remain on the host machine. OpenAI is rolling out the capability in a preview phase to all ChatGPT users, including those on free plans, across all supported regions.
