ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is pricing its DDR5 memory chips on par with industry leaders Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. Memory vendors at the Computex trade show report that CXMT prices fall within the same range as the top three global manufacturers. These findings debunk the expectation that the Chinese chipmaker would provide a significantly cheaper alternative.
Major manufacturers are currently prioritizing high-margin High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) to satisfy surging AI sector demand. This strategic shift has tightened the global supply of conventional DDR5 chips for the client market. Because CXMT is not yet a major HBM supplier, it is positioned to fill supply gaps for PCs and other consumer devices.
