CXMT supplies LPDDR5X to Nubia, challenging Samsung in AI smartphone market

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has begun supplying high-speed LPDDR5X memory to a new AI smartphone from ZTE-owned brand Nubia. This move marks CXMT’s entry into the high-performance mobile memory market. Nubia will implement a multi-vendor supply system using chips from both CXMT and Samsung.

CXMT’s LPDDR5X achieves a maximum data transfer speed of 10,667 Mbps. This performance matches top-tier products from rivals Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology. The company previously launched mass production of 8533 Mbps and 9600 Mbps versions in May 2023.

This advancement underscores China’s progress in developing a domestic semiconductor supply chain for high-end devices. The sector was previously dominated by South Korean and American manufacturers.
