Micron Technology announced a $50 billion investment on August 13, 2026, to construct two large-scale memory wafer factories in Boise, Idaho. The first facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
The company also revealed plans for a potential $100 billion industrial park in Clay, New York. This site could eventually house up to four additional wafer factories.
These investments aim to increase production capacity for memory chips used in artificial intelligence and data processing. Rising demand for high-value NAND products in enterprise storage is fueling the expansion.
