Netflix has surpassed the BBC as the primary destination for UK viewers, according to Ofcom’s latest Media Nations report.

The study found that 26% of audiences now turn to Netflix first. The BBC follows narrowly with 25% of the viewer share.

Broadcaster-owned on-demand services like BBC iPlayer and ITVX grew 9% year-over-year. This category represents the fastest-growing segment in the market.

Overall reach for traditional broadcasters fell to 70% in 2025. This figure represents a decline from 73% in 2024.
