Nokia inaugurated its first research and development center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The facility focuses on AI-powered network automation software, including service management and orchestration (SMO) and Self-Organizing Networks (SON). Engineers will also develop rApps to improve network autonomy and efficiency.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 to produce Made in Saudi technology for global markets. The center creates new engineering roles and provides advanced training in AI and automation.
This expansion follows an agreement between Nokiaβs CEO and the Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The facility positions Nokia as a primary developer of future 6G technologies in the region.
