Nu Holdings subsidiary Nubank México received final authorization from Mexico’s National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) to operate as a multiple banking institution. This approval completes a transition from a limited financial institution (Sofipo) that began in April 2025.
Mexican regulations require Nubank México to begin full banking operations within 30 days. The new status allows the company to offer payroll accounts and higher deposit limits. It will also introduce a broader range of investment and credit products.
This development reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the Mexican market. Nubank currently serves over 15 million customers in the country.
