A 1.3 billion reais ($251 million) allocation funds a supercomputing project in Rio de Janeiro. China’s Huawei and iFlytek will partner on this project to develop large language models.
Another 1 billion reais ($193.1 million) will fund a separate supercomputer in Rio Grande do Norte. Officials expect this facility to rank among the world’s 10 most powerful AI systems. The government anticipates U.S. chipmaker Nvidia will win the contract for the Rio Grande do Norte site.
