Taiwanese authorities have raided the offices of Unimicron Technology Corp., a major supplier of printed circuit boards (PCBs) to Nvidia and Intel, over allegations of fraudulently relabeling products. Prosecutors in Taoyuan suspect the company shipped PCBs manufactured in China to Taiwan and then falsely relabeled them as "Made in Taiwan," a practice known as "origin washing."
The raid, which took place on Friday, involved searches of Unimicron's headquarters and a manufacturing plant, with prosecutors questioning multiple defendants and witnesses. Five senior executives were later released on bail. The company has stated it is fully cooperating with the investigation. This probe comes as Taiwan's government increases its crackdown on companies attempting to circumvent tariffs on Chinese-made goods.
