Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion in Taiwanese chip designer MediaTek through convertible bonds. The expanded partnership focuses on artificial intelligence across infrastructure, personal computing, and the automotive sector. This deal combines Nvidia's accelerated computing with MediaTek's expertise in system-on-chip design.
MediaTek will adopt Nvidia's NVLink Fusion platform as part of the agreement. The technology enables hyperscalers and cloud service providers to develop custom chips for rack-scale AI systems. Both companies will continue their joint development of chips for PCs and AI-powered vehicles.
MediaTek forecasts it will generate more than $2 billion from data center chips this year.
