Nvidia has released a new, free software tool called Personal AI Router (PAIR) in beta. The open-source application is designed to distribute local artificial intelligence inference workloads across multiple compatible computers on a home or small business network. PAIR allows users to create a personal AI cluster by connecting various machines—such as PCs with Nvidia RTX GPUs and Apple Macs—without specialized hardware.
The tool works by discovering idle systems on the local network and intelligently routing AI tasks to them, preventing a single machine from becoming a bottleneck. This enables users to run more complex AI agent workflows more efficiently while keeping their data and prompts private on their local network. The initial beta release supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, and integrates with popular AI tools like Ollama and LM Studio.
