Taiwanese prosecutors are seeking to detain three individuals for allegedly smuggling high-end, Nvidia-powered Super Micro servers to China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The suspects reportedly used forged documents and fraudulent customs declarations to bypass strict U.S. export controls for illegal profits. This action marks Taiwan's first significant crackdown on the illegal export of controlled semiconductor technology.

Authorities raided 12 locations, including private residences and corporate offices, to seize evidence. The investigation is linked to a March 2026 U.S. Justice Department case involving a Super Micro co-founder. That U.S. case charged three individuals associated with Super Micro with a large-scale scheme to illegally ship AI technology to China. Both Nvidia and Super Micro stated they remain committed to complying with all export control laws.
