Novo Nordisk Outperforms Eli Lilly, CagriSema Leads with 12.4% Weight Loss

Novo Nordisk’s experimental drug CagriSema outperformed Eli Lilly’s tirzepatide in a late-stage trial for type 2 diabetes.

In the REIMAGINE 5 head-to-head study, CagriSema patients lost an average of 12.4% body weight after 60 weeks. Eli Lilly’s rival drug achieved a 9.1% weight reduction in the same period.

A separate trial showed CagriSema achieved a 21% weight reduction in adults with obesity or who are overweight.

Novo Nordisk positions CagriSema as the successor to its blockbuster drug Wegovy. The results mark a significant step in the competition for the global weight-loss market.
