NXP Semiconductors broke ground today on a major expansion of its assembly and test facility in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The investment aims to strengthen the company’s global manufacturing footprint and internal capacity.

The new factory will utilize advanced automation technologies. Production is scheduled to begin ramping up in the first quarter of 2028.

The expansion will more than double the site's current output once fully operational. This move supports NXP’s hybrid manufacturing strategy to improve supply control and geographic diversification.
