Petrobras approved a $1.2 billion final investment decision for a new biorefining project. The company will construct the dedicated facility at the Presidente Bernardes refinery (RPBC) in Cubatão, São Paulo.
The plant will produce renewable diesel (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), referred to in Brazil as bioQAV. The facility features a designed production capacity of up to 15,000 barrels per day.
Construction is slated to begin by the end of 2026. The plant is scheduled to start operations in 2030.
This investment integrates into the Petrobras 2026-2030 business plan. The project supports Brazil's Fuel of the Future program and international aviation emissions reduction targets.
