Planet Labs Germany and Isar Aerospace have signed a strategic multi-launch agreement. Isar Aerospace will launch a high-resolution Pelican satellite using its Spectrum vehicle from Andøya, Norway. The deal includes options for additional future launches to support Planet’s expanding constellation.
This partnership represents Germany’s first mission featuring a domestically built satellite and rocket. Planet will assemble the Pelican satellite at its new manufacturing facility in Berlin. Isar Aerospace produces the Spectrum rocket at its headquarters near Munich.
The companies target an initial launch within 12 months of the agreement. A potential launch window is scheduled as early as late 2026.
The collaboration aims to strengthen Europe’s sovereign space ecosystem. Planet expects to add 70 employees to its Berlin-based team. The company currently employs approximately 150 people in the German capital.
