Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL) appointed Wolfgang Schmidt to its European Advisory Board. Schmidt previously served as Head of the German Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Affairs.
Planet is advancing plans to build a new satellite manufacturing facility in Berlin. This facility will serve as its European hub for advanced satellite production.
Schmidt's extensive experience in German and European policymaking will support Planet's continental expansion. His previous role included overseeing Germany's federal intelligence services. Planet CEO Will Marshall cited Schmidt's direct help in facilitating a Germany-supported partnership with Ukraine as a key reason for the appointment. Schmidt joins other prominent European political figures on the advisory board.
